VISIT - MAY 2019

Updated: Nov 10, 2020

On our trip to SA back in May, it was hard work, but we felt we achieved all that we set out to do.

We went with Chris Connors from COCo’s Foundation and 2 of his people, but they were involved in a sewing project, which I helped with at times , it meant that, a lot of the time, it was just Bill and I.

We went out into the community and visited several orphan families, where houses were desperately needed and we were able to give out food parcels and blankets. A very humbling experience.

We were able to visit all 3 After School Clubs that ROTTC fund, spending time with the children, singing, playing games and doing craftwork.

We visited the Ebenezer Centre, the pre-school by Mseleni Children’s Home, and gave them a card made by the children of our Little Fishes Pre-School.

When arriving at Mseleni, on that Monday morning, we were greeted by many of the LK workers, who were setting off on a course together. So lovely to see them again.

On the middle weekend we did a PSS worship at Ekuseni, one of the schools that we support, and this was an hours drive from where we were staying

We had 90 orphans from that area, crammed into a fairly small space, but we managed to teach Bible stories, play games and Bill and I even taught them some songs. Not easy!!

We then did craft with groups of 30 children, whilst the other children had teaching from the LK workers on other relevant subjects to their difficult lives.

The children are so keen to do everything that you give them.

At one of the After School Clubs we also identified 5 children in desperate need of school uniform. A couple of days later, we took them to uniform shop and kitted the out from head to toe. Their faces were a real picture.
